In order to celebrate completing my 1 Year 1 Outfit challenge I’ll be giving away an indigo dyed Apolis Chore Coat that was generously provided to me by Apolis. It is the same model I wore through the past 365 days (but this one’s brand new), and as you can see they fade beautifully.
This is my first giveaway and I’m not a huge fan of giveaways that force people to repost or follow specific instructions that annoy their own social media followers. I’m not going to set any rules with regards to being eligible, all that I ask is that if you like the content on my site I would love if you shared it with your friends or followed me on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.
What you win
An Apolis Chore Coat in indigo wool size large, the same size I wear, it fits well for a 40-42″ chest. If you happen to win and you require a different size I’ll check with Apolis and see if we can make that work.
How to enter
I don’t have a fancy entry form made up, so either leave a comment below with your name or at least your initials or send me an email at matt@thisstylishlife.com. I’ll randomly choose a winner on June 14th, 2015, please make sure I have your correct email so I can contact you.
One entry per person, I’ll only ship to a name that matches your entry/initials so no multiple entries please.
Let’s keep this one to North America only, sorry rest of the world.
If you don’t win, don’t fret, you can buy yourself one at the following shops:
- directly through Apolis
- through Huckberry (typically has the best regular price)
- through East Dane (sometimes available on sale)
Update, June 14th:
Congrats to Patrick M. for winning a new Apolis Chore Coat! Thanks to everyone who entered the draw, I had almost 1,000 entries and a ton of great comments. I’ll try to eventually get back to anyone who had questions and comments, but in the meantime thanks for all of the support!

KQN
It’s been interesting reading your perspective on this — while I didn’t scale down to one outfit I realized I didn’t need nearly as many clothes in my closet as I thought. I have a much reduced wardrobe with only things I really like to wear and it’s been very freeing. Makes traveling easier too! Thanks
Timothy

Please keep up the posts. It’s been fun this year and I’d like to know what you buy and how your fashion taste has changed. By the way, finding what I wanted sold out at Hollows, I discovered One Star Leather and recommend the one-man operation.
Oh man, I’d love to have an apolos chore coat! Also, I’ve loved followingyour journey. What is next? Will you keep up with the blog?

My husband looks great in indigo/navy colors. He’d love this!
Loved reading about your year-long experience!
So much yes. Please.
Really enjoyed reading this post and following all the others!
I’ve enjoyed following your project and admired the approach- fast fashion is a boon on our economy, the environment, and the fashion world too. I’m happy you completed this project and inspire me to tidy up my own closet, though it’s already a bit minimal, your project inspires me to trim the fat, which there always is.
Thanks again for sharing and I congratulate you man!
Awesome! Thanks for the chance.
Great concept and execution! Looking forward to some high res pictures of the wear and tear you put on all the items, especially the 60/30s!

Also, this is an amazing idea that I wish I could replicate. Working in the service industry — making specialty coffee — kind of restricts my wardrobe to either 1) all dark colors or 2) wearing the same pieces to work day in and day out and changing before/after each shift, which is what I’ve begun to do as my style has shifted a little bit.

I’ve really enjoyed reading about your experiences with the minimalist wardrobe. I wish I could do that myself, but I can’t deny my consumerist nature. I have been steadily purging all of the lame old stuff to make room for cool, new things and an Apolis Chore Coat would certainly fit right in.

I just found your site. I have been researching “capsule wardrobes” for myself. I was very amazed at your year with 1 outfit, and all that you did. I find that most men are able to dress more minimally. I mean most men can live with just 2-3 pairs of shoes. I struggle with that, but I am willing to try. Thanks for the inspiration.
By the way, how did your partner handle your year with 1 outfit?
I agree it seems tougher conceptually for women to dress minimally. I’d love to see someone come up with a similar 10 item female wardrobe and see if it could be put into action. I think part of the boundary is just our perception of what’s acceptable for each gender. Take formal events for example, men are almost expected to wear the same suit for multiple occasions, women however tend to find a new dress/outfit for each outing.
I think this is largely due to societal pressures and it’s true the media tends to focus in on women’s outfits, even when they’re largely irrelevant to the message. No one was talking about what Barack was wearing, but everyone knows Michelle shops at J. Crew.
My partner was actually super supportive in getting me to carry through with this project. She held me to my commitment and wouldn’t have let me cheat even when it got uncomfortable. She’s happy to see me in some new clothes now, but it wouldn’t have been easy if she hadn’t been as on-board as she was.
She actually started slimming down her closet first after reading Jennifer Scott’s Lessons from Madame Chic and that served as a big inspiration for this whole thing.
FYI I would love to have the jacket for my husband :)
